Happy Birthday, 'Merica! What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than a flag cake? This patriotic dessert is a delicious blend of French vanilla cake and strawberry Jello, topped with cool whip, fresh strawberries and blueberries. It's the perfect sweet treat to bring to your Independence Day cookout or pool party!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 box French vanilla cake mix

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 package strawberry Jello

  • 1 package strawberries, sliced

  • 1 package blueberries

  • 1 container cool whip

  • 3 cups water, divided

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mix together cake ingredients and bake according to package directions. I used Duncan Hines for this recipe!

  2. While the cake is baking, slice up your strawberries.

  3. Once finished baking, allow cake to cool for 15-20 minutes.

  4. Poke small holes all over your cake. The tip of a wooden spoon works perfectly!

  5. Make the Jello mix according to package directions.

  6. Pour the liquid Jello mix all over the cake, making sure to get it evenly in the holes.

  7. Once cake has cooled completely, carefully spread the entire container of cool whip on top, and smooth with a rubber spatula.

  8. Top with fresh strawberries and blueberries in the shape of a flag.

  9. Refrigerate at least 3-4 hours before serving!
